The Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development (IESD) at BHU continues to strengthen its position in global sustainability research through its M.Sc. Environmental Sciences programme for the 2026–28 batch. The institute offers specializations in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Ecological Sciences, and Environmental Biotechnology.

IESD is equipped with advanced research infrastructure, including gas chromatographs, atomic absorption spectroscopy systems, TOC analyzers, high-performance liquid chromatography, and plant growth chambers. Key research areas include climate change, agroecosystem management, ecotoxicology, phytoremediation, urban climate, and sustainability science. The Department of Home Science at BHU’s Mahila Mahavidyalaya offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programmes that integrate nutrition, health, human development, textiles, and resource management. Courses include B.A./B.Sc. in Home Science, multiple M.A./M.Sc. specializations such as Food and Nutrition, Extension and Communication, Clothing and Textiles, and Family Resource Management, along with Ph.D. programmes.
