Lucknow: Nearly nine days after applying for revaluation of three subjects, Class 12 student Aditi Mishra is still waiting for her scanned CBSE answer sheets, a delay that she says has left her under constant stress as she tries to meet admission timelines for a private university that offers direct entry based on board marks.
Aditi, a student of a private CBSE-affiliated school in the city, applied for access to her scanned copies on May 20. Without them, she cannot proceed to the next step of the process — seeking re-evaluation — because the board’s system requires students to first view the scanned answer sheet before submitting a re-evaluation request.
“I applied for re-evaluation on May 20, I am still waiting to receive my scanned answer sheet. Reports of students finding unchecked answers, and cases where answer sheets uploaded under a student’s roll number contained someone else’s handwriting and responses, have increased my concern that something similar may have happened to me,” Aditi said.
She added that the delay has intensified her anxiety because she believes her Chemistry, Biology and English papers went well, but the marks awarded were unexpectedly low. “Until I get the copy, I cannot apply for re-evaluation,” she said.
Aditi’s experience is being echoed by other students across Lucknow, many of whom say they have been waiting for more than a week for scanned answer sheets under CBSE’s digital evaluation framework. Students say the uncertainty is affecting their ability to plan admissions, counselling and document submissions, particularly for institutions that do not extend deadlines while results are under challenge.
Several students said repeated calls to helpline numbers have gone unanswered. Others approached school teachers for clarity, but were told that schools have limited visibility into the board’s portal operations. Teachers, students said, cited possible server overload, technical glitches and structural issues linked to the On-Screen Marking system as potential reasons for the delay.
“Every day of delay is affecting crucial higher-education decisions for students, as it limits our ability to challenge errors and finalise college admissions or counselling preparations. The re-evaluation window of the board will close on June 1 and we don’t have scanned copies, which is a must-have if you want to get re-evaluation done,” said Class 12 student Karti Gupta.
Another student, Abhinav Agnihotri, said the delay could cost students opportunities. “Universities will not wait for CBSE to provide scanned answer sheets so that we can apply for re-evaluation and upload our final scorecards after the results are updated. We fear missing opportunities at good institutions because of this delay,” he said.
