An auto-rickshaw driver was killed after a wall collapsed in Bengaluru's Vijayanagar area amid heavy rainfall on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred around 7:30 PM, with the wall giving way due to the incessant downpour.
Crushed Vehicle
The autorickshaw was completely crushed under the debris. Rescue teams arrived at the scene and extricated the driver, who was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. Officials have not yet released the identity of the deceased.
Property Damage Assessment
Authorities stated that the extent of damage to other property in the vicinity is still being evaluated. The area has been cordoned off, and debris removal is underway. Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the collapse.
Heavy rain has been lashing Bengaluru for the past two days, leading to waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several parts of the city. The meteorological department has predicted more rainfall in the coming days.
