The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2026 results were announced on Monday, revealing that 56,880 candidates have qualified for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other premier engineering institutions. Out of the 1,87,389 candidates who registered for the examination, 1,79,694 appeared for both papers held on May 17.
Qualifying Statistics
Among the successful candidates, 10,107 were girls, marking a significant representation of female students in the engineering stream. The overall qualifying pool represents approximately one-third of the total candidates who appeared, highlighting the highly competitive nature of this gateway examination.
Top Rankers
The overall topper is Shubham Kumar from the IIT Delhi zone, who scored an impressive 330 marks out of 360. He was closely followed by Kabeer Chhillar, also from the IIT Delhi zone, who secured 329 marks. Jatin Chahar, again from the same zone, clinched the third rank with 319 marks, as per a press note shared by IIT Roorkee.
The top-ranked female candidate this year is Aarohi Deshpande from the IIT Delhi zone, who achieved an All India Rank (AIR) of 77 after scoring 280 out of 360 marks.
Dominance of IIT Delhi Zone
The IIT Delhi zone demonstrated remarkable dominance in this year's examination, with all three top positions in the Common Rank List (CRL) being secured by candidates from this region. This underscores the strong academic preparation and competitive environment in the zone.
Counseling and Admission Process
The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has urged all qualified candidates to participate in the JoSAA 2026 counseling and seat allocation process, regardless of their Class XII marks. However, final admission remains subject to the fulfillment of eligibility conditions, including the percentage criteria and other requirements specified in the JEE (Advanced) 2026 Information Brochure.
Candidates are advised to regularly check the official JoSAA website for updates on counseling schedules, seat availability, and other important information. The counseling process is expected to begin shortly, and qualified candidates must complete the registration and choice-filling process within the stipulated deadlines.
