Kerala HSE Results 2026: Pass Percentage Rises to 77.97%

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Higher Secondary Examination results were officially announced on Tuesday, revealing a marginal increase in the overall pass percentage. This year, 77.97% of candidates cleared the examination, compared to 77.81% in the previous academic year.

Girls Continue to Outperform Boys

As in previous years, female students outperformed their male counterparts. While 84.89% of girls successfully passed the exam, only 68.41% of boys achieved eligibility for higher studies. General Education Minister N. Shamsudheen made the announcement.

Total Candidates and Eligibility

A total of 3,72,423 school-going candidates appeared for the Higher Secondary Examination conducted in March 2026. Of these, 2,90,381 candidates secured the minimum required marks and became eligible for higher studies. The results were finalized considering marks from the first-year examination as well.

Stream-Wise Performance

The science stream recorded the highest pass percentage at 84.52%, followed by commerce at 74.74% and humanities at 66.38%. Among Scheduled Caste students, 58.95% cleared the exam, while 65.33% of Scheduled Tribe candidates passed.

Sector-Wise Analysis

Aided schools performed best with an 82.82% pass rate, compared to 78.18% in unaided schools and 72.66% in government schools.

Top Scorers

The number of students securing A+ in all subjects increased to 30,561, up from 30,145 last year. Among them, 23,095 were girls and 7,466 were boys. The science stream produced the highest number of all A+ holders (22,970), followed by commerce (5,264) and humanities (2,327). A total of 60 students achieved perfect marks of 1,200 out of 1,200, compared to 41 last year. A minimum of 30% marks is required for eligibility.

District and School Highlights

Idukki district recorded the highest pass percentage at 84.64%, while Kasaragod had the lowest at 71.72%. The highest number of candidates appeared from Govt HSS, Tirurangadi in Malappuram, with 835 students. Malappuram also led in all A+ holders with 4,621 students.

Other Streams and Vocational Results

The Higher Secondary technical stream reported a 72.82% pass rate, the art stream 82.54%, and the open school stream 50.92%. The Vocational Higher Secondary Examination (VHSE) recorded a 72.49% pass percentage, with 25,259 candidates appearing.
