Patna University PG Admissions 2026-27 Open

Patna University (PU) commenced the online application process for postgraduate courses for the 2026-27 academic session on Wednesday. Aspiring candidates can submit their applications through the Samarth admission portal until July 15. For self-financed PG programs, the deadline is July 10.

Admission Criteria for PG Courses

Kameshwar Pandit, Dean of Students' Welfare at PU, provided details regarding admissions in the faculties of arts, science, and commerce. For all regular postgraduate courses under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)—including MA, MSc, and MCom—admissions will be determined based on the marks secured in the last qualifying degree examination.

However, for self-financed courses such as Personnel Management and Industrial Relations (PMIR), the university will conduct entrance examinations if the number of applicants exceeds 150% of the sanctioned seats. This ensures a fair and competitive selection process.

Undergraduate Admissions Begin

Simultaneously, undergraduate admissions in arts, science, and commerce streams commenced on Wednesday at various PU-affiliated colleges. This follows the release of the first merit list on PU's website on Tuesday. Colleges including Patna College, Patna Science College, Vanijya Mahavidyalaya, BN College, and Magadh Mahila College are now accepting students.

Some candidates initially faced difficulties downloading their admission letters and paying the requisite fees due to technical glitches. However, the dean confirmed that these issues were promptly resolved, allowing the admission process to proceed smoothly.

For further information, candidates are advised to regularly check the official Patna University website and the Samarth portal for updates and guidelines.
