The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) declared the Class X results on Monday, revealing a slight dip in Mohali's overall pass percentage even as the district improved its ranking among Punjab's districts. Mohali recorded a pass percentage of 95.26% in 2026, down from 96.6% in 2025, yet it climbed to 10th position in the state, up from 11th last year.
Exam Statistics for Mohali
According to PSEB data, a total of 9,039 students from Mohali district appeared for the examination, out of which 8,611 successfully passed. The marginal decline in pass percentage did not overshadow the district's improved ranking, indicating a competitive performance relative to other districts.
Top Performing Districts
Amritsar led the state with an impressive pass percentage of 98.41%, followed closely by Ferozepur at 98.39% and Pathankot at 97.99%. Among neighbouring and major districts, SAS Nagar (Mohali) performed better than Sangrur, Patiala, Bathinda, Barnala, Mansa, and Ludhiana. Ludhiana recorded the lowest pass percentage in the state at 89.20%.
Year-on-Year Comparison
In 2025, Mohali had posted a pass rate of 96.6%, with its rank improving from 13th in 2024 to 11th. However, the 2025 figure was slightly lower than the 96.89% recorded in 2024. The current year's performance shows a similar trend of a slight dip but an improved rank.
Merit List Performance
This year, three students from SAS Nagar district—one boy and two girls—secured positions in the state merit list. In comparison, the district had also produced three merit holders in 2024, ranked 12th, 17th, and 19th. Across Punjab, 272 students made it to the state merit list, with Ludhiana leading with 38 merit holders, followed by Amritsar (31) and Hoshiarpur (27).
State-Level Results
At the state level, 2,69,505 students appeared for the matriculation examinations, of whom 2,54,744 passed, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 94.52%. PSEB data highlighted that rural students outperformed their urban counterparts, with pass percentages of 95.35% and 92.98%, respectively. Girls continued to outperform boys, securing a pass percentage of 95.96% compared to 93.23% among boys.
