The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) has officially unveiled the examination calendar for the crucial Class 12 practical assessments for the 2026 board exams. In a significant move for lakhs of students, the board has set distinct timelines for regular school attendees and private candidates, aiming for a smooth and organized evaluation process across science, commerce, and arts streams.
RBSE Class 12 Practical Exam Dates: Regular vs Private Candidates
Regular students enrolled in schools across Rajasthan will commence their practical examinations from January 1, 2026. This head start allows schools to manage logistics and assessments systematically. Following them, private candidates, who are not affiliated with a regular school, will appear for their practical tests starting January 25, 2026.
This separation of schedules is designed to streamline the administrative workload and ensure focused attention for both groups. Regular students will take their exams at their own schools, adhering to subject-wise timetables provided by school authorities. Private candidates, however, must report to examination centres specifically allotted by the RBSE, following the date and time slots mentioned in their official admit cards.
Detailed Guidelines for Schools and Examiners
To maintain uniformity and integrity, RBSE has issued a comprehensive set of instructions to all affiliated schools and appointed examiners. Schools are mandated to complete all preparatory work well in advance. This includes ensuring laboratory facilities are fully functional, equipment is checked, and student records are verified before the exam period begins.
A key directive from the board involves mandatory photograph documentation during the practical exams. External examiners are required to capture photographs of the examination process, which must then be submitted to the board via a specified official email channel. This step is introduced to create a verifiable record of the exam's conduct and to ensure strict adherence to prescribed norms. Schools have been instructed to provide full cooperation to the external examiners, including access to necessary student documents and facilities.
Theory Exam Timeline and Next Steps for Students
Aligning with the practical schedule, RBSE has also reaffirmed the theory examination dates for the 2026 session. The Class 12 theory exams will be held from February 12 to March 11, 2026. For Class 10 students, the written exams are scheduled from February 12 to February 28, 2026. The board's plan is to conclude all practical assessments before the onset of the theory papers in February.
Students are now advised to take immediate action based on their category. Regular students should coordinate closely with their schools to obtain subject-wise practical schedules and ensure their project files and lab records are complete and up-to-date. Private candidates must vigilantly monitor the official RBSE website for updates on their allotted exam centres and admit card availability.
Admit cards for the practical exams are expected to be released in January 2026, while hall tickets for the theory examinations will be issued closer to the February dates. The board has cautioned all students to rely solely on official RBSE communications and avoid misinformation from unofficial sources.
