Exam Structure and Sections
Paper 1 is designed for candidates aspiring to teach classes 1 to 5. It comprised 150 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark, with no negative marking. The exam duration was 150 minutes. The paper was divided into five sections: Child Development and Pedagogy (30 questions), Language I (Hindi) (30 questions), Language II (English/Sanskrit/Urdu) (30 questions), Mathematics (30 questions), and Environmental Studies (30 questions).
Difficulty Level and Candidate Feedback
According to candidates who appeared for the exam, the overall difficulty was moderate. The Child Development and Pedagogy section was considered easy, while Mathematics had a few tricky questions. Environmental Studies was balanced with questions from science and social studies. Language sections were straightforward.
"The paper was easier than last year. I found Child Development and Pedagogy very simple, and Mathematics had some calculation-based questions but manageable," said Priya Sharma, a candidate from Lucknow.
Another candidate, Ravi Kumar from Kanpur, added, "Environmental Studies questions were from the syllabus. Overall, it was a fair paper."
Key Observations
Analysis by subject experts indicates that the Child Development and Pedagogy section focused on Piaget, Vygotsky, and Kohlberg theories. Mathematics had questions on number system, geometry, and data interpretation. Environmental Studies included topics like food, water, and shelter. Language sections tested comprehension and grammar.
Approximately 12 lakh candidates registered for Paper 1 this year, with an estimated attendance of around 80%. The exam was conducted smoothly with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
Next Steps
The answer key is expected to be released within two weeks on the official website upbeb.gov.in. Candidates can raise objections if any. The final result will be declared after evaluation, and qualified candidates will be eligible for teaching positions in primary schools across Uttar Pradesh.
