Bihar Police Constitutes SIT to Investigate NEET Re-Exam Fraud

Bihar Police has set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe a large-scale impersonation scam in the NEET re-examination, drawing comparisons to the Bollywood film 'Munna Bhai MBBS'. The scam involves candidates paying hefty sums to impostors to take the test on their behalf.

Details of the Scam

According to officials, the fraud came to light after suspicious patterns were detected in the re-exam results. Preliminary investigations suggest that at least 12 candidates were involved, with payments ranging from ₹10 lakh to ₹15 lakh per impersonation. The SIT, led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police, will examine the role of middlemen and coaching institutes.

Impact on Medical Admissions

The scam has raised serious concerns about the integrity of medical entrance exams in Bihar. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been alerted, and the re-exam results for the affected candidates have been withheld. The SIT is expected to submit its report within a month.
