New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday launched a Rs 10 crore talent hunt scheme aimed at identifying and nurturing young talent across the national capital. The scheme, called 'Mukhyamantri Pratibha Khoj Yojana', will cover areas such as sports, music, dance, and academics.
Scheme Details
Under the scheme, students from classes 9 to 12 can participate in various competitions at the school, district, and state levels. Winners will receive cash prizes and opportunities for further training and mentorship. The initiative aims to provide a platform for the youth to showcase their skills and receive recognition.
Eligibility and Application Process
Students enrolled in government and government-aided schools in Delhi are eligible to apply. The application process will be conducted online through the education department's portal. Schools will also conduct preliminary rounds to shortlist candidates for district-level competitions.
Categories and Prizes
The talent hunt will feature multiple categories, including science, mathematics, literature, performing arts, and sports. The top three winners in each category will receive cash prizes of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 50,000, and Rs 25,000, respectively. Additionally, all participants will receive certificates of participation.
Government's Vision
Speaking at the launch event, CM Rekha Gupta emphasized the government's commitment to empowering the youth. She stated that the scheme would help in discovering hidden talents and providing them with the necessary support to excel. The government plans to allocate Rs 10 crore for the first year of the scheme, with provisions for expansion based on its success.
The scheme has been welcomed by educators and parents, who believe it will encourage students to pursue their passions alongside academics. The education department will oversee the implementation and ensure transparency in the selection process.
