Indore: The Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) on Friday announced the results of the State Services Preliminary Examination 2026, shortlisting a total of 3,786 candidates for the main examination. Among these, 3,055 candidates have been placed in the regular merit list, while 731 candidates have been included in a separate provisional list.
Regular and Provisional Lists
The commission clarified that candidates shortlisted against the 87 percent vacancies have been included in the regular list, while those considered for the remaining 13 percent vacancies have been placed in the provisional list. Both lists will remain separate, and there will be no interchange between them.
Examination Details
The preliminary examination was conducted on April 26 in two shifts across 54 district headquarters. Officials confirmed that the recruitment process will continue strictly for the already notified 156 posts, and the number of vacancies will not be increased now that the preliminary examination results have been announced.
Reason for Two Lists
MPPSC stated that the result has been divided into two parts due to pending court cases related to the State Services Examination 2019 and directions issued by the General Administration Department regarding OBC reservation. Under this arrangement, 87 percent of the vacancies have been treated as the regular recruitment portion, while the remaining 13 percent vacancies linked to the disputed reservation matter have been kept provisional until a final legal decision is reached.
Vacancy Breakdown
As per the advertisement and corrigendum issued by MPPSC, the 156 vacancies include:
- 41 posts for the unreserved category
- 20 for Scheduled Castes
- 33 for Scheduled Tribes
- 42 for Other Backward Classes
- 20 for Economically Weaker Sections
Reservation provisions have also been made for persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen. Out of the 42 posts reserved for Other Backward Classes, 26 have been included in the regular list, while 16 have been kept in the provisional category.
