The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) successfully conducted the Civil Services Examination (CSE) Prelims 2026 on May 25. A total of 5.49 lakh candidates appeared for the exam, which was held across various centers nationwide. In a significant move, the Commission will release a provisional answer key shortly after the preliminary examination, marking a first for the UPSC. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and provide candidates with an early opportunity to assess their performance. The provisional answer key will be published on the official UPSC website, allowing candidates to raise objections if needed. The final answer key will be issued after reviewing the objections. The CSE Prelims is the first stage of the prestigious civil services selection process, followed by the Mains and interview rounds. Candidates are advised to regularly check the UPSC website for updates.
