CDRI Hosts Inspiring Event for National Science Day with Focus on Women in Science
The Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) in Lucknow commemorated National Science Day, observed annually on February 28, by organizing a dynamic programme titled "Women in Science: Catalyzing Viksit Bharat". This event aimed to highlight the pivotal role of women in scientific advancement and foster interest among young students.
Educational Visit for Girl Students
As part of the celebrations, CDRI welcomed approximately 50 girl students and two teachers from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya for an immersive educational experience. The programme kicked off with an orientation session where seasoned scientists delivered insightful talks. They emphasized the critical importance of science and research in addressing pressing healthcare issues and broader societal challenges, while also underscoring the significant contributions of women scientists to India's development journey.
Interactive Activities and Laboratory Tours
To engage the students actively, members of the CDRI Science Club conducted a lively science quiz and a series of interactive games, designed to stimulate curiosity and encourage participation. Following these activities, the students were taken on guided tours of the institute's state-of-the-art laboratories. During these tours, they had the opportunity to observe modern research facilities and sophisticated scientific instruments firsthand.
Additionally, the students interacted directly with researchers, gaining valuable insights into ongoing projects in drug discovery and biomedical sciences. This hands-on exposure provided a glimpse into the real-world applications of scientific work and inspired many to consider careers in STEM fields.
The event successfully blended education with inspiration, reinforcing CDRI's commitment to nurturing the next generation of scientists and promoting gender diversity in science.
