Lake Walk for Conservation
The lake walk saw active participation from environmentalists, students, and local residents who voiced their concerns over the deteriorating condition of Kukkarahalli Lake. They emphasized the need for immediate conservation measures to preserve the lake's ecological balance and its diverse flora and fauna.
Appeal to University of Mysore
The participants urged the UoM administration to take proactive steps in safeguarding the lake, which is a vital part of Mysuru's natural heritage. The lake is home to numerous species of birds, plants, and aquatic life, making it a crucial biodiversity hotspot in the region.
Environmental activists highlighted the threats posed by encroachment, pollution, and neglect, calling for a comprehensive restoration plan. They also stressed the importance of community involvement in conservation efforts.
The 'Parisarahabba' event aimed to raise awareness about environmental issues and foster a sense of responsibility among citizens. The lake walk was one of several activities organized during the festival, which included workshops, clean-up drives, and educational sessions.
