IIT-BHU's Jagriti Festival 2026 Aims to Ignite Social Consciousness and Civic Responsibility
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), BHU in Varanasi is set to host its annual socio-awareness festival, Jagriti, from February 6 to 8, 2026. Organised under the aegis of the Social Service Council (SSC), this flagship initiative is designed to foster social consciousness, civic responsibility, and youth-led dialogue on pressing societal issues. The festival serves as a platform for students and the wider community to engage in meaningful conversations and develop actionable solutions.
Diverse Events and Activities to Address Key Societal Challenges
Councillor of SSC, Suresh Dhoble, announced that Jagriti 2026 will feature a diverse range of competitions, interactive events, exhibitions, and awareness-driven activities. Each of these initiatives is tailored to address key challenges faced by society today, aiming to encourage critical thinking, empathy, and the development of practical solutions among participants. The festival's activities are structured to not only educate but also inspire attendees to take proactive steps towards social change.
Social Awareness Tunnel: An Immersive Experience at Rajputana Ground
A major highlight of this year's festival will be the Social Awareness Tunnel, set up at Rajputana Ground. This immersive installation is designed to sensitise visitors about social realities through impactful visuals, narratives, and creative installations. By engaging attendees both emotionally and intellectually, the tunnel seeks to make social issues more tangible and relatable, fostering a deeper understanding and commitment to addressing them.
Inspiring Guest Talk Series Featuring Distinguished Personalities
The fest will also host an inspiring guest talk series, featuring distinguished personalities from diverse fields. Notable speakers include Group Captain Angad Pratap, Astronaut Delegate and Indian Air Force Test Pilot; Sonal Goel, IAS, Secretary, government of Tripura; Mohit Tyagi, Educator and Entrepreneur; Captain Akhilesh Saxena, Kargil War Veteran; and Kiran Bedi, India's first woman IPS officer. These talks aim to provide insights and motivation, encouraging youth to contribute positively to society.
