The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, has commenced the application process for its four online Bachelor of Science (BS) degree programmes. These include specialisations in data science and applications, electronic systems, management and data science, as well as aeronautics and space technology.
Eligibility and Flexibility
These programmes are open to all individuals who have successfully completed Class XII, with no upper age limit. Students have the option to pursue these programmes either as a standalone qualification or alongside a regular college degree. The final date for submission of applications is May 31.
Insights from the Dean
Professor Prathap Haridoss, Dean (Academic Courses) at IIT Madras, stated, "These BS programmes are designed to give students flexibility without compromising on quality. We are seeing a growing need for learners to build strong foundations in data, technology and interdisciplinary thinking, regardless of their primary degree." He further added, "These programmes allow students to access IIT-level learning while pursuing other academic or professional paths, thereby significantly enhancing their career opportunities."
Concurrent Enrollment Benefits
Students currently enrolled in B Com, BSc, BBA, or engineering degrees can simultaneously enrol in these programmes. This enables them to strengthen their analytical, technical, and domain-specific capabilities, thereby broadening their skill set and improving career prospects.
