Rajasthan Government Unveils Rs 450 Crore World-Class Skill Hub in Budget 2026-27
In a significant move to boost skill development and employment, the Rajasthan government has announced plans to establish a world-class Skill Hub at an estimated cost of Rs 450 crore under the Budget 2026-27. Additional Chief Secretary for Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship, Sandeep Verma, made this announcement on Friday, highlighting the state's commitment to enhancing vocational training and entrepreneurship opportunities.
Study Visits to Bhopal and Bhubaneswar for Best Practices
To ensure the success of this ambitious project, officials from Rajasthan will undertake study visits to Bhopal and Bhubaneswar in early April. The purpose of these visits is to examine existing skill centres in these cities and adopt best practices that can be integrated into the new hub. This proactive approach aims to create a model that is both innovative and effective in addressing the skill gaps in the region.
Expansion of International Skilling and Overseas Placement Centres
The government plans to set up International Skilling and Overseas Placement Centres in Jaipur and Bharatpur. These centres will focus on providing advanced training and facilitating job placements abroad, thereby opening up global opportunities for Rajasthan's workforce. Additionally, similar facilities are slated to be established across five to six rural districts to ensure wider access and inclusivity.
Collaboration with NSDC for Future Skills Centres
In collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) Academy, Rajasthan will launch Future Skills Centres. A list of colleges and 20–25 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) is expected to be finalised soon to host these centres. This initiative is designed to equip students and trainees with cutting-edge skills that align with emerging industry demands.
Training Programs for Tourist Guides and Solar Didis
Starting from April 2026, the Rajasthan Skill and Livelihoods Development Corporation, in partnership with NSDC, will roll out comprehensive training programs. These will target 7,000 tourist guides and 25,000 "Solar Didis," focusing on sustainable energy and tourism sectors. The training aims to empower women and enhance the state's tourism and renewable energy infrastructure.
Introduction of Skill Impact Bond Framework
To promote outcome-based training, the state government will introduce a Skill Impact Bond framework. This innovative approach will link funding to measurable results, ensuring that training programs deliver tangible benefits in terms of employment and skill acquisition. It represents a shift towards more accountable and effective skill development strategies.
