Swami Vivekanand Subharti University in Meerut held its 11th convocation ceremony at the Mangalya Auditorium on Sunday, conferring a total of 2,481 degrees, including 115 PhDs. The event was graced by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat as the chief guest, while Senator Umar Abubakar Tafidan Kabbi, Lieutenant Governor of Nigeria's Kebbi Province, attended as a distinguished guest.
Gold Medals and Awards
Forty-five undergraduate toppers received gold medals, and 23 postgraduate toppers were awarded excellence certificates. The prestigious Chancellor's Medal was presented to Dr. Eben S. John as the best student and Kumari Aastha Gupta as the best female student. MBBS topper Sachi Gupta and dental topper Jaya Rani Singh also received gold medals. Additionally, MBBS first-year toppers Arsh Jain and Shreya Rastogi were awarded cash prizes of Rs 11,000 each.
Governor's Address
Addressing the graduates, Governor Acharya Devvrat emphasized that a convocation marks not an end but the beginning of new responsibilities. He urged students to share their knowledge with those in need and to honor their parents and teachers. Expressing concern over the rising number of old-age homes in India, he stated that such institutions are not part of Indian culture. "A degree means becoming a responsible person," he said.
Nigerian Lieutenant Governor's Message
The Nigerian Lieutenant Governor called on students to use their education for broader societal good, noting that innovation, technology, and international cooperation are increasingly critical in a fast-changing world.
University's Progress
Vice Chancellor Prof. Pradeep Kumar Sharma said the NAAC 'A'-graded university is advancing in research, startups, and international collaboration in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He noted that the university employs over 70 differently-abled persons. All degrees were simultaneously uploaded to DigiLocker for digital access.
New Initiatives
University Chancellor Dr. Stuti Kakkar highlighted the newly established Subharti Incubation and Research Centre as a key step for fostering entrepreneurship among students.
