Lucknow Student Deepali Kannoujia Achieves 95.2% in CBSE Class X, Embodies Resilience

In Lucknow, Deepali Kannoujia is celebrating a significant academic milestone after the announcement of the CBSE Class X results. The daughter of a washerwoman, she has secured an impressive 95.2% marks, marking another achievement in her young educational journey.

Academic Excellence and International Experience

Deepali, a student at Study Hall School, demonstrated outstanding performance across subjects. She scored 97 in computer science, 96 in science, 95 each in Hindi and social science, and 93 in English. Her success is further highlighted by her selection for the US Department of State's Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) programme in 2024. After completing the course, she returned to India in June last year, enriched by the experience.

"This journey has taught me that where you come from does not define where you can go," Deepali said. "Every opportunity I received pushed me to dream bigger and work harder."

Support from Educational Foundation and Family

Urvashi Sahni, Founder and CEO of the Study Hall Educational Foundation (SHEF), praised Deepali's achievements. "Deepali's journey reflects what becomes possible when girls are encouraged not just to learn, but to question, challenge and claim their rightful place in the world," Sahni stated. "As a Prerna alumna now thriving at Study Hall, she embodies the courage."

Living in a one-room rented house in Gomtinagar's Vishwas Khand, Deepali supports her mother, Suman, by teaching children to help make ends meet. Suman expressed immense pride, saying, "I am very happy and proud of my daughter. She has worked very hard for this, and seeing her succeed like this is the biggest happiness for me."

Early Education and Personal Challenges

Deepali began her education in the nursery section of Prerna Girls' School in 2013, a unit of SHEF. A year later, she earned a scholarship to study at Study Hall. Her teachers noted her consistent resilience, discipline, and commitment to studies over the years. The US exchange program opened new horizons, fostering both academic and personal growth.

Rakhee Panjwani, principal of Prerna Girls School, commented, "Deepali's journey is inspiring for every girl at Prerna. Her dedication and achievements show what our students can accomplish when given the right support and opportunities."

Deepali is the youngest among four siblings, with three sisters and one brother. Her father, formerly a washerman, is now bed-ridden after undergoing leg surgery, adding to the family's challenges.

This story underscores the power of education and support in overcoming adversity. Deepali's achievements serve as a beacon of hope for students from underprivileged backgrounds, demonstrating that with determination and access to opportunities, remarkable success is attainable.
