A private school teacher was arrested by the Coimbatore city police on Friday for allegedly sending obscene videos and pictures to his students. The accused, identified as V Babu, 35, a native of Dindigul district, was working as an English teacher at a private school in Kalapatti. He taught students from Class IX to XII.
How the Incident Came to Light
According to police sources, Babu had developed a close relationship with some male students and connected with them on a social media platform. He allegedly sent obscene videos and pictures to the students' Instagram accounts. On Thursday, the parents of one student discovered the inappropriate content on their child's account. Upon inquiring with other parents, they found that Babu had sent similar content to several students.
Action Taken
The parents reported the matter to the school management, who promptly alerted the police. The East All Women Police registered a case against Babu under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested him. He was subsequently remanded in judicial custody.

The POCSO Act is a comprehensive law designed to protect children from sexual assault, harassment, and pornography. Offenses under this act are non-bailable and carry stringent penalties. The police are investigating further to determine if there are more victims.
