Delhi Private School Admissions 2026-27: Key Dates, Age Limits & Documents
Delhi Private School Admissions 2026-27 Guidelines

The Delhi government has officially announced the comprehensive admission procedure for entry-level classes in the city's unaided private schools for the upcoming 2026-27 academic session. This crucial circular outlines the complete timeline and requirements for parents seeking admission for their children in open seats across private institutions in the national capital.

Complete Admission Timeline for Delhi Private Schools

The government has established a detailed schedule to ensure a smooth and transparent admission process. The admission procedure will commence on December 4, 2025, when forms become available to parents. Schools must upload their admission criteria and point systems to the Department's module between November 28, 2025.

The final date for submitting application forms is set for December 27, 2025, giving parents approximately three weeks to complete their applications. Following this, schools are required to upload details of all applicants for open seats by January 9, 2026.

The evaluation process will see schools uploading marks allocated to each applicant based on their point system by January 16, 2026. The first list of selected children, including waiting list candidates, will be displayed on January 23, 2026, along with the marks allotted under the points system.

Important Subsequent Dates and Query Resolution

Parents will have the opportunity to resolve any queries regarding points allocation for the first list on January 24, 2026. If required, a second list of selected children will be displayed on February 9, 2026, with query resolution spanning from February 10 to February 16, 2026.

The admission process allows for subsequent admission lists if necessary on March 5, 2026, with the entire admission process concluding on March 19, 2026. This structured timeline ensures that all admissions are finalized well before the beginning of the new academic session.

Age Eligibility Criteria for Different Classes

The government circular has clearly specified age limits for various entry-level classes to maintain uniformity across private schools. For Nursery class (also referred to as Balvatika 1 or Pre School 1), children should be 3 years or older but under 4 years of age.

For Kindergarten (KG) admissions, the eligible age group is 4 years or older but under 5 years. For Class 1 admissions, children must be 5 years or older but under 6 years. These age specifications ensure that children are developmentally appropriate for their respective class levels.

Valid Documents for Address Proof

The Delhi government has identified specific documents that will be accepted as valid proof of address during the admission process. Parents can submit any of the following documents:

  • Ration Card or Smart Card issued in the name of parents
  • Domicile certificate of either the child or the parents
  • Voter ID (EPIC) of any one parent
  • Electricity bill, MTNL telephone bill, water bill, or passport bearing the name of either parent or the child
  • Aadhaar Card or UID card issued in the name of either parent

This comprehensive guideline from the Delhi government aims to streamline the admission process in private schools while ensuring transparency and fairness for all applicants. Parents are advised to carefully note all the important dates and keep the required documents ready to facilitate a smooth admission process for their wards.
