The Delhi government has officially launched a major educational initiative aimed at empowering the city's youth with high-quality professional coaching, completely free of cost. Under the ambitious Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Vidya Shakti Mission, a fund of Rs 21 crore has been allocated to support 2,200 meritorious students in their preparation for top competitive examinations.
Seat Distribution and Focus on Girls' Education
Delhi's Education Minister, Ashish Sood, provided detailed insights into the seat allocation, emphasizing the administration's commitment to gender equity. For courses like JEE, NEET, CLAT, and CA Foundation, a minimum of 50 seats in each course will be reserved exclusively for girl students. In a significant expansion for undergraduate entrance, the CUET-UG program will offer a total of 1,000 seats, with 150 of those reserved for girls.
The coaching will be delivered through premier empanelled institutes, ensuring top-tier guidance. The program structure is designed to complement regular schooling, with classroom sessions, live classes, comprehensive study material, and test preparation support being provided after school hours and on weekends.
Building Future-Ready Schools and Emotional Safety
Minister Sood framed the mission as more than just exam preparation. "These students are not just preparing for exams; they are preparing to transform their lives. With this mission, we are not only offering educational resources but also building the courage, confidence and emotional strength to dream bigger," he stated. The vision extends to creating holistic learning environments.
The government is also focusing on integrating technology and empathetic practices. AI-enabled classrooms and human-centred education are key pillars for developing future-ready schools. "We are building schools where children learn with joy, teachers teach with pride and communities engage with purpose. With modern furniture and digital tools, we will make Delhi's government schools the first choice for future generations," Sood added, calling this initiative a "turning point in Delhi's public education".
Overwhelming Response and Commencement of Classes
The massive public interest in the scheme was evident from the turnout for the entrance test. A staggering 62,000 students appeared for the Common Entrance Test (CET-2025), which was conducted on October 30. Following the counselling process for selected candidates, physical classes for the mission commenced on November 26.
Reflecting on the need for supportive educational spaces, Minister Sood reiterated the paramount importance of creating emotionally safe, empathetic, and responsive learning environments. "No child in Delhi should ever feel unseen, unheard or unsupported. Education is not just about marks; it is about mental wellness, dignity, and humanity," he affirmed, highlighting the holistic approach of the current administration.
