In a significant boost to public education, the Delhi government has officially rolled out a free professional coaching scheme for high-achieving students from its schools. Named the Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Vidya Shakti Mission, the initiative will empower 2,200 meritorious students to prepare for premier competitive examinations without any financial burden.
Scheme Details and Financial Backing
Education Minister Ashish Sood announced the operational launch of the mission, which had been promised in the state budget. The scheme is backed by a substantial allocation of Rs 21 crore. It is designed to support students aiming for engineering, medical, law, and commerce careers by covering coaching for JEE, NEET, CLAT, Chartered Accountant (CA) Foundation, and CUET-UG.
The selection process was conducted through a Common Entrance Test (CET-2025), which saw an impressive 62,000 applicants on October 30. Following counselling, the selected scholars began their physical classroom sessions on November 26, 2025.
Empowering Female Students and Partner Institutes
A core feature of the Vidya Shakti Mission is its strong emphasis on gender equity. For the JEE, NEET, CLAT, and CA Foundation courses, 50 seats per course are exclusively reserved for female students. The reservation is even more pronounced for the CUET-UG program, which offers a total of 1,000 seats, with 150 specifically set aside for girls.
The coaching will be delivered through a network of empanelled and renowned private institutions. Students will receive comprehensive support from centres like Aakash Institute, Narayana Academy, KD Campus, and Ravindra Institute. The support package includes classroom coaching, live sessions, study materials, and test series, conducted after regular school hours and on weekends.
A Holistic Vision for Education
Minister Ashish Sood hailed the mission as a turning point for Delhi's public education, framing it as more than just academic tutoring. He stressed that the government's vision extends beyond marks to encompass emotional well-being, dignity, and mental wellness of students.
Reiterating the commitment to creating emotionally safe learning environments, Sood said the initiative is a movement to empower talent and protect mental health at the grassroots level. He also highlighted parallel efforts to modernize infrastructure, including the development of AI-enabled classrooms and human-centred education systems to ensure truly equal opportunities for every child in the capital.
The Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Vidya Shakti Mission, therefore, stands as a multi-faceted endeavor. It combines substantial financial investment, strategic partnerships with coaching giants, a clear focus on uplifting girl students, and a progressive philosophy that links academic success with holistic student development.
