In a significant push to modernize public education, the Haryana government has embarked on a comprehensive upgrade of its school infrastructure, focusing on digital learning, student nutrition, and teacher accountability. The initiatives were outlined by State Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda during a high-level review meeting in Gurgaon.
Digital Leap and Classroom Comfort
The cornerstone of this modernization drive is the installation of a massive 26,000 smart class boards across government schools in the state. Minister Dhanda stated that these smart education initiatives are crucial for enhancing students' technological readiness and providing a modern learning environment.
To further improve the physical learning space, the department is arranging dual desks in classrooms to ensure better comfort for students. Officials have also been directed to accelerate the construction of new school buildings and conduct regular inspections to maintain infrastructure standards.
Focus on Welfare: Meals and Scholarships
A major focus area is the welfare of students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The government is working to enhance the effectiveness of its scholarship schemes to provide robust financial support.
Regarding the midday meal scheme, Minister Dhanda issued strict directives. He emphasized that the quality of meals must be regularly tested in government-approved laboratories to ensure students receive nutritious food. This move aims to safeguard student health and well-being directly within the school system.
Administrative Reforms and Teacher Accountability
The review meeting also addressed key administrative processes. Officials were instructed to urgently release the schedule for online teacher transfers to streamline postings. Furthermore, all pending matters related to career advancement (ACP) and medical claims for employees are to be settled on priority to avoid inconvenience to staff.
Minister Dhanda set clear expectations for teaching standards, warning that negligence would not be tolerated. He mandated that teachers must conduct classes on time and maintain high standards of instruction, with action to be taken against any concerned staff found lacking.
The meeting was attended by key officials including Additional Chief Secretary (School Education) Vineet Garg, CM's OSD Raj Nehru, Director General (Elementary Education) Vivek Aggarwal, and Director (School Education) Jitendra Dahiya, underscoring the importance placed on this educational transformation.
