Lakhan Prasad, serving as headmaster of Government Primary School in Rohua Tola under Bagaha-2 block, has consistently gone far beyond traditional teaching responsibilities to strengthen the entire educational ecosystem. Through persistent home visits and motivational sessions with parents, he has dramatically increased student attendance while fostering unprecedented community participation in the school's development.
Innovative Campus Transformation
The school campus now represents a unique fusion of innovation and practical simplicity. Ordinary staircases have been converted into interactive learning tools, featuring brightly painted multiplication tables and numerical sequences. Trees throughout the grounds have been transformed into "living classrooms," each tagged with the names of Bihar's chief ministers and India's Presidents and Prime Ministers, making general knowledge both engaging and accessible to young minds.

"Despite limited resources, our mission remains providing quality education within a clean, beautiful, and joyful environment," Prasad explained. "When I joined this school in 2004, we had merely 70 students. Through persistent household visits to raise educational awareness, coupled with developing a fully eco-friendly campus featuring a nutrition garden and 'Sita Vatika' for cultural values, we've created transformative change."
Sustained Impact and Growth
The school's walls have been converted into additional learning surfaces, displaying paintings of alphabets, numbers, and general knowledge facts. As a direct result of these comprehensive efforts, student enrollment has surged to 175, with most beneficiaries belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities that historically faced educational disadvantages.

Prasad instituted daily "chetana sabha" sessions to instill discipline and moral values among students. The school now boasts a functional small library, reliable clean drinking water facilities, and comfortable cushioned seating arrangements. Perhaps most innovatively, Prasad helped students establish 'Apna Bank'—a student-managed banking system where children deposit small monthly amounts and can borrow for stationery needs, developing crucial habits of saving and financial responsibility from an early age.

Block Education Officer Fudan Ram praised the initiative, confirming the school was declared best for two consecutive years. "Prasad's work demonstrates how meaningful, sustainable change often begins with a single committed individual," Ram stated. Local resident Saurabh Kumar observed, "Previously, village children spent days playing or tending animals. Lakhan Sir personally visited homes, persuading parents to prioritize education. Now attendance has skyrocketed, and children genuinely enjoy learning in this vibrant, eco-friendly environment."
