Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has officially announced the admission schedule for its various schools for the upcoming academic session of 2026-27. The university has released the detailed prospectus and key dates for the application process, inviting parents to register their children for classes ranging from Nursery to higher secondary levels.
Admission Process for Lower Classes: Nursery to Class 1
The registration window for the youngest learners will open first. Online applications for Nursery, Preparatory, and Class 1 will commence on January 7, 2026. Parents have until January 27, 2026, to complete and submit the forms. The application fee for this category is set at Rs 500.
Admissions for these foundational classes will be conducted at two specific institutions:
- Mushir Fatma Nursery School
- Syed Abid Husain Senior Secondary School (Self-Financed)
All applications must be submitted digitally through the official JMI admission portal.
Schedule for Middle and Secondary Level Admissions
For students seeking entry into higher classes, JMI will offer seats in Class 6 and Class 9. The process for these grades will begin slightly later. The online forms will be accessible from February 5, 2026, with the submission deadline set for March 5, 2026. The application fee remains Rs 500.
The schools offering admissions for Class 6 and 9 are:
- Jamia Senior Secondary School
- Jamia Girls Senior Secondary School (Self-Financed)
- Syed Abid Husain Senior Secondary School (Self-Financed)
Class 11 and Balak Mata Centres Admissions
Students who have completed their Class 10 can apply for Class 11 in Science, Arts, and Commerce streams. The application window for this crucial level will run from February 20 to March 20, 2026. The fee for Class 11 applications is also Rs 500. Admissions will be held at the same three senior secondary schools listed for Class 6 and 9.
Separately, the university will also conduct admissions for its Balak Mata Centres. The process for these centres is distinct in its procedure. Application forms will be available from March 5, 2026, and must be submitted by April 20, 2026. Notably, the application fee is significantly lower at just Rs 50.
Unlike the online process for the schools, applications for Balak Mata Centres must be submitted in hard copy only. Forms can be obtained and submitted at designated centres located in Matia Mahal, Qassabpura, and Beriwala Bagh.
Important Guidelines for Applicants
Jamia Millia Islamia has advised all candidates and parents to thoroughly read the official admission prospectus available on its website before initiating the application. It is crucial to ensure that all details are correctly filled and that the form is submitted well before the respective deadlines. The primary website for information is jmi.ac.in, while the dedicated portal for online school applications is admission.jmi.ac.in.
With the schedule now public, parents in Delhi and the National Capital Region planning to secure a seat for their children in the prestigious Jamia schools should mark their calendars and begin preparing the necessary documents.
