Koppal District Achieves Historic High in II PUC Examinations
Koppal district has scripted an exceptional academic record by emerging as the top-performing district in the Kalyana Karnataka region during the recent II PUC examinations. The district registered its best-ever results, marking a remarkable turnaround in educational outcomes.
Record-Breaking Performance Metrics
The district posted an overall pass percentage of 86.9% this year, representing a substantial jump of 19.7 percentage points from last year's 67.2%. This impressive improvement has propelled Koppal from the 23rd position to the 17th rank in state-wide rankings, reflecting significant academic progress.
Deputy Director of Pre-University Education (DDPU) Jagadish GH described this achievement as "the highest in the district's history," attributing the success to the dedicated efforts of students, lecturers, and the education department.
Detailed Examination Statistics
A total of 13,312 fresh candidates appeared for the examination, with 11,555 successfully clearing it. When including repeaters, the numbers rise to 15,503 candidates appearing and 12,189 emerging successful.
Stream-wise performance among fresh candidates revealed:
- Science stream: 92.7% pass percentage
- Commerce stream: 90.3% pass percentage
- Arts stream: 78.3% pass percentage
Region-wise analysis showed rural areas outperforming urban centers, with rural areas achieving 89.9% compared to 84.6% in urban areas.
Regional Leadership and Educational Infrastructure
Koppal district outshone all other districts in the Kalyana Karnataka region, surpassing Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Ballari, and Vijayanagara in academic performance.
The district's educational infrastructure comprises:

- 9 aided institutions
- 43 private colleges
- 15 Morarji Desai colleges
