Kochi: A serious road accident occurred in Koyilandy on Saturday morning when two cars collided head-on, leaving at least eight people injured. The incident took place around 10:30 am on a service road near an overbridge in Chengottukavu, Kozhikode, where the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions.
Details of the Collision
The impact of the crash caused both cars to overturn, resulting in extensive damage to the vehicles. Local residents and fire force personnel had to work together to extricate the victims from the wreckage. The injured were initially taken to Koyilandy Taluq Hospital, but due to the severity of their injuries, they were later transferred to Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) in Kozhikode. At least one person is reported to be in serious condition, according to sources.
Police Investigation Underway
Koyilandy police stated that they have received information that the injured have been moved to MCH. An FIR will be registered once a statement regarding the collision is obtained. An officer mentioned that the passengers in one car are from Perumbavoor, while those in the other are from Koyilandy. The police will investigate how such a high-speed collision occurred on a service road.
