The Joint Tribes' Council in Manipur has accused Kuki groups and associated individuals of involvement in the abduction and killing of six Naga captives following a series of tribal tensions and hostage exchanges. Convenor Merachao Inka alleged that while Nagas released 14 Kuki captives unharmed as a goodwill gesture, six Naga captives were later returned as bodies in a severely decomposed condition. The council has demanded the arrest of all those allegedly involved in the abductions and killings, including specific local leaders and alleged KNF(P) cadres. The group has also questioned the handling of the case, claiming authorities have referred to the victims as 'missing persons' despite allegations of murder. The incident has added to concerns over inter-community tensions in Manipur and calls for accountability.
