Mangaluru Student Scores 600/600 in II PU After Mother's Death

Mangaluru Student's Remarkable Resilience: Perfect Score Amidst Personal Tragedy

In an extraordinary display of fortitude, Disha, a commerce student at Alva's PU College in Moodabidiri, has achieved a perfect score of 600 out of 600, securing the first rank in the II PU examinations. This remarkable accomplishment came during one of the most challenging periods of her young life, marked by a devastating personal loss.

A Tragic Turn During Examination Period

On the day of her economics examination, Disha's world was shattered when her mother, Savitha, suffered fatal injuries following an accidental fall. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Savitha later succumbed to her injuries, leaving Disha and her family in profound grief.

What makes Disha's achievement truly exceptional is her decision to continue with her examinations despite this unimaginable personal tragedy. While some relatives advised her not to appear for the remaining papers while her mother was hospitalized, Disha demonstrated incredible determination by returning to complete her Hindi and accountancy examinations, all while participating in funeral rituals.

Her younger sister, Deeksha, a Class 10 student, revealed that while Disha was deeply shaken by their mother's death, she remained resolute in her commitment not to miss any examination. "She was determined to honor our mother's memory through her academic performance," Deeksha explained.

Institutional Support During Crisis

The college administration and faculty played a crucial role in supporting Disha through this difficult period. M Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva's College, and Veena Agnes D'Souza, Disha's class adviser, confirmed that lecturers stood by her throughout the ordeal, providing both academic and emotional support.

"Disha's resilience is truly inspirational," said M Mohan Alva. "Her ability to focus on her academic goals while dealing with such profound personal loss speaks volumes about her character and determination."
