Nagpur's Shikshanotsav 2025-26 Culminates in Grand Finale at Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Auditorium

A vibrant display of youthful energy and talent marked the spectacular conclusion of 'Shikshanotsav 2025–26', meticulously organized by the education department of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). The grand finale unfolded at the prestigious Kavivarya Suresh Bhat Auditorium, drawing a significant gathering of officials, students, and community members.

Dignitaries Emphasize Commitment to Educational Excellence

Mayor Neeta Thakre graced the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by a distinguished assembly of civic leaders. Deputy mayor Leeta Hathibed, leader of opposition Sanjay Mahakalkar, corporators Vaishali Udapurkar and Sarika Nandurkar, additional commissioner Vaishnavi B, deputy commissioner Meghna Wasankar, education officer Sadhana Sayam, and numerous other senior officials were present to witness the celebrations.

In her address, Mayor Thakre underscored the critical and growing necessity to deliver high-quality, free education to all students. She articulated the civic body's dual focus: not merely on boosting enrolment figures in municipal schools but fundamentally on elevating the standard of education and ensuring comprehensive intellectual growth for every pupil.

"Parents from economically weaker sections place their trust in us with their children's future. It is our solemn duty to uphold and enhance the prestige of municipal schools," Mayor Thakre stated emphatically, highlighting the profound responsibility entrusted to the municipal administration.

Cultural Extravaganza and Academic Competitions

The event was enlivened by captivating group songs and dynamic dance performances presented by students from Lal Bahadur School, Nari Upper Primary School, Pardi Upper Primary School, and PM Shri Sanjay Nagar School. These cultural highlights showcased the artistic prowess nurtured within the municipal education system.

Shikshanotsav, which spanned from November 28 to December 6, featured an extensive array of academic, cultural, and sports activities designed to foster holistic development. The competition results were as follows:

  • Primary Category: Durganagar Primary School clinched first place, with Vivekanand Primary School securing the runner-up position.
  • Upper Primary Category: Pardi Upper Primary School earned the top honour, while Durganagar Marathi Upper Primary School was named runner-up.

All victorious schools received formal felicitations during the ceremony, recognizing their outstanding achievements across the festival's diverse events.

Substantial Awards for Academic and Extracurricular Excellence

In a significant gesture to reward academic merit, students who secured first rank in the Class 10 and 12 examinations (categorized by stream and medium) in March 2025 were awarded cheques of Rs 25,000 along with commemorative gold coins. Second- and third-rank holders were granted Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively, incentivizing scholarly pursuit.

Additionally, winners of sports competitions for the 14–18 age group were presented with trophies, while champions of cultural competitions received special mementoes. This comprehensive recognition system underscores the NMC's commitment to celebrating excellence in both academic and extracurricular domains, reinforcing a balanced approach to student development.
