In a significant move to empower young minds with practical business skills, the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has officially announced the completion of its entrepreneurship curriculum for Class 12 students. This development marks the culmination of a comprehensive two-year educational pathway designed specifically to nurture innovation, self-reliance, and job creation among Punjab's youth.
Building on Previous Success
Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains revealed the details on Thursday, highlighting that this initiative builds upon the successful foundation laid by the 'Business Blaster programme' launched for Class 11 students during the 2022-23 academic year. Minister Bains praised the PSEB's dedicated efforts in bringing this vision to fruition ahead of schedule.
The board has demonstrated exceptional commitment by making entrepreneurship a compulsory subject across 3,692 senior secondary schools throughout Punjab. To ensure effective implementation, the program has already trained 10,382 teachers and 231 master trainers through 104 specialized training programmes.
Comprehensive Skill Development
The newly finalized curriculum is designed to provide students with practical knowledge that transforms theoretical concepts into viable business ventures. The course content covers essential entrepreneurial aspects including:
- Startup challenges and opportunities
- Legal procedures and compliance requirements
- Financial management and budgeting
- Business planning and development
- Market analysis and strategy
With textbooks and learning materials prepared well in advance, approximately 5.60 lakh students will be able to pursue entrepreneurship education without interruption during the 2026-27 academic year.
Vision for Punjab's Economic Future
Minister Bains emphasized that this initiative represents a key promise fulfillment by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government. The comprehensive curriculum aims to equip students in government and recognized schools with both the mindset and practical skills necessary for self-employment, startup creation, and entrepreneurial success.
"This program is designed to prepare Punjab's youth to become job providers rather than job seekers, ultimately positioning them as economic drivers of tomorrow," stated Bains. The initiative is expected to play a crucial role in fueling the state's economic development by creating a new generation of entrepreneurs and innovators.
The early completion of curriculum development ensures that educational institutions will have adequate time to prepare for seamless implementation, guaranteeing that students receive the full benefits of this groundbreaking educational reform.
