Gurgaon SCERT Purges 4,000 Outdated E-Learning Modules from DIKSHA Portal
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Gurgaon has undertaken a significant digital clean-up, removing nearly 4,000 outdated e-learning modules from its online platform. This decisive action was taken in preparation for the upcoming 2026-27 academic session, following an extensive three-month review process. The primary goal is to ensure that students receive only accurate, updated, and syllabus-based study materials, thereby enhancing the overall quality of digital education.
Streamlining the DIKSHA Portal for Better Usability
The clean-up operation was executed through the DIKSHA portal, a national digital platform that provides comprehensive learning resources for students from Classes 1 to 12. Officials revealed that the portal had been cluttered with duplicate files, draft materials, and topics that were no longer part of the prescribed syllabus. These extraneous uploads often led to confusion among both students and teachers, hindering effective learning and teaching experiences.
By systematically deleting such content, SCERT has transformed the platform into a more organised and user-friendly environment, making it easier for educators and learners to navigate and access relevant materials. This move is part of a broader initiative to align digital learning with classroom teaching, ensuring consistency and coherence in educational delivery.
Expert-Led Review and Content Development
Manoj Kaushik, who oversees the educational technology wing at SCERT, emphasized the importance of keeping digital resources in sync with curricular requirements. "A dedicated team of subject experts is meticulously reviewing each subject area, removing outdated chapters and incorporating relevant topics where necessary," he explained. The revised content is being developed in strict adherence to curriculum guidelines, guaranteeing that students have access only to material essential for their studies and examinations.
The new digital content will be available in multiple formats, including audio, video, and PDF, to cater to diverse learning preferences. Video lessons will feature subject experts breaking down complex chapters in simple, understandable language, while audio support will aid in text comprehension. Additionally, students will have the flexibility to mute the audio and engage in independent reading, promoting self-paced learning.
Focus on Key Subjects and Future Plans
Teams of designers and writers at the institute are currently finalizing the format and structure of the new modules. The content development process is set to accelerate in April and May, with a particular focus on Mathematics, Science, and English. This targeted approach addresses the common difficulties faced by students in government schools in these subjects, aiming to bridge learning gaps and improve academic outcomes.
Once the updated materials are uploaded to the DIKSHA portal, teachers will be empowered to share them with their classes during the coming academic session.
