The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the results for the UGC NET December 2025 examination, marking a significant milestone for aspiring academics across India. The UGC NET December 2025 examination was conducted as a computer-based test (CBT) spanning 85 diverse subjects over six days, from December 31, 2025, to January 7, 2026. It was administered in 11 shifts across 663 examination centres located in 283 cities nationwide, ensuring widespread accessibility for candidates. A total of 9,93,702 individuals registered for this prestigious exam, with 7,35,614 candidates successfully appearing for the test, reflecting a robust participation rate.

Qualification Statistics and Breakdown

According to the official data released by the NTA, the results reveal a detailed breakdown of successful candidates. 5,108 candidates have qualified for both the Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor eligibility, highlighting their dual competence in research and academia. Additionally, 54,713 candidates have secured eligibility for Assistant Professor roles and admission to PhD programmes, while 17,058 candidates have qualified solely for PhD admission, showcasing the diverse academic pathways available.

Demographic Insights and Gender Distribution

Female candidates dominated the registration process, accounting for 5,85,400 applicants, which represents 58.91 per cent of the total registrations. Male candidates numbered 4,08,245, making up 41.08 per cent, and 57 candidates registered under the third gender category, emphasizing inclusivity in the examination process. This gender distribution underscores the growing participation of women in higher education and research fields in India.

Transparency Measures and Result Preparation

To uphold transparency and fairness, the NTA implemented several measures prior to the result declaration. From January 14 to January 17, 2026, the agency uploaded question papers, provisional answer keys, and recorded responses on its official website, inviting challenges from candidates. These challenges were meticulously reviewed by subject experts, and the final results have been prepared based on the revised answer keys, ensuring accuracy and credibility in the evaluation process.
