The grieving family of a 29-year-old Indian student from Haryana has made a desperate appeal to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for assistance in bringing his body home after he was tragically stabbed to death in the United Kingdom last week.
A Tragic Appeal for Repatriation
In a formal letter dated November 26, Ravi Kumar, the elder brother of the deceased Vijay Kumar Sheoran, urgently requested the External Affairs Minister to intervene. The family, hailing from Jagrambass village in Badhra tehsil of Charkhi Dadri district, seeks complete support from the Indian High Commission in the UK to navigate the complex process of repatriating his mortal remains.
Ravi Kumar stated that their family is utterly devastated and wishes to perform Vijay's last rites in their native village. He highlighted that foreign legal procedures, documentation, and financial aspects pose significant hurdles, making it extremely challenging for them to manage the process from India without official backing.
Details of the Fatal Incident
Vijay Kumar Sheoran was pursuing management studies at the University of the West of England (UWE) in Bristol. According to family statements and police reports, the incident occurred in the early hours of November 25, 2025. Officers from the West Mercia Police found Vijay critically injured with multiple stab wounds on Barbourne Road in Worcester at around 4.15 am GMT.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital and later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on November 26. In his representation, Ravi Kumar described the act as a tragic murder.
Vijay had resigned from his position as an officer in the central government's excise and customs department, where he was posted in Kochi, to build a better future through education in the UK. His brother revealed that the family never imagined such a fate would befall him.
Investigation Status and Family's Demands
The Worcester CID team of West Mercia Police is investigating the case. Authorities have informed the family that six individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder investigation. All six have since been released on police bail pending further inquiries. Their identities and alleged roles have not been disclosed publicly yet.
The family has been provided with a crime reference number but says detailed information from UK authorities remains limited. Speaking about their demands, Ravi Kumar emphasized two critical points:
- To repatriate Vijay's body to India at the earliest possible moment.
- To ensure justice is served, as there is a fear the killers might escape the law if the issue is not pursued seriously.
The family's letter specifically requests the MEA's help in:
- Coordinating with British authorities.
- Expediting documentation and verification processes.
- Arranging transportation of the body to India.
Vijay was the son of Surender Singh and Saroj Bala. The family now waits in hope, relying on the Indian government's intervention to bring their son home for a final farewell.
