In a significant achievement for higher education in Haryana, at least twelve students from Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology (GJUS&T) in Hisar have secured annual salary packages reaching up to Rs 11 lakh during a recent campus placement drive conducted by the global technology giant Infosys. This placement event, which underscores the university's growing reputation in the tech industry, was organized by the institution's training and placement cell on January 27 and 28, 2024, specifically targeting specialist technical roles with competitive compensation.
Placement Drive Details and Selection Process
The placement drive offered salary packages ranging from Rs 7 lakh to an impressive Rs 21 lakh per annum, reflecting the high demand for skilled technical professionals. A total of 174 students participated in the initial programming-based assessment, which served as the first screening round. From this pool, 34 candidates were shortlisted to proceed to the technical interview phase, where they faced rigorous coding-intensive evaluations designed to test their problem-solving abilities and technical expertise.
Following these challenging interviews, twelve students emerged successfully, securing offers for top-tier roles. The selection process highlighted the university's strong focus on practical skills and industry readiness, with the training and placement cell playing a pivotal role in preparing students for such competitive opportunities.

Vice-chancellor Prof Narsiram Bishnoi personally met with the selected students to congratulate them on their outstanding accomplishment. He encouraged them to continue excelling in their professional careers, emphasizing the importance of hard work and innovation in the technology sector. Placement director Pratap Singh provided detailed insights into the specific roles secured by the students, noting that this success reflects the university's commitment to fostering talent aligned with industry needs.
Breakdown of Selected Candidates and Their Roles
Among the selected students, Ruchi from the BTech Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) program and Debjit Dey from the BTech Computer Science and Engineering program were appointed as specialist programmers at SP–Level 1, each receiving an annual package of Rs 11 lakh. This role is particularly prestigious, involving advanced technical responsibilities and offering substantial growth opportunities within Infosys.
In addition, eleven students received offers for the position of digital specialist engineer, with an annual package of Rs 7 lakh. The successful candidates for this role include:
