The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially announced that the NEET PG 2026 examination will be conducted on August 30, 2026. This single-day computer-based test will determine admissions to postgraduate medical courses across India for the academic year 2026-27.
Key Dates and Application Timeline
According to the official NBEMS notice, the application process for NEET PG 2026 is expected to commence in early June 2026. Candidates will be able to fill out the online application form on the official website at nbe.edu.in. The last date for submission of applications is likely to be in mid-July 2026, with a correction window opening shortly after. Admit cards will be released approximately two weeks before the exam, i.e., around mid-August 2026.
Eligibility Criteria
To appear for NEET PG 2026, candidates must possess an MBBS degree from a recognized medical college and have completed or be in the final year of their compulsory rotating internship by March 31, 2026. Additionally, they must have permanent registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council.
Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The NEET PG 2026 examination will consist of 200 multiple-choice questions covering subjects from the MBBS curriculum. The duration of the exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes. The syllabus includes pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical subjects as per the NMC guidelines. Each correct answer will award 4 marks, while 1 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.
Application Fee
The application fee for NEET PG 2026 is expected to remain unchanged: Rs. 3,750 for General category candidates, Rs. 2,750 for OBC/EWS, and Rs. 1,750 for SC/ST/PwD candidates. Payment can be made online through net banking, credit card, or debit card.
Counseling and Seat Allocation
After the results are declared in September 2026, the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) will conduct the centralized counseling for 50% All India Quota seats. State counseling authorities will manage the remaining state quota seats. The counseling process will include registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting to the allotted institute.
As per NBEMS officials, the entire admission process is expected to be completed by November 2026 to ensure the academic session starts on time. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official NBEMS website for updates and to avoid any last-minute rush.
