A tragic incident occurred on the sets of SJ Suryah's upcoming film Killer in Chennai, where a 26-year-old crew member lost his life and three others sustained injuries during the filming of a bomb blast sequence. The accident took place in the early hours of Wednesday at Binny Mills in Perambur.
Fatal accident during film shoot
According to a report by India Today, the explosion happened around 5 am when a gas cylinder used for the sequence allegedly burst on the set. The blast severely injured crew member Madhan, who was present at the location during the shoot. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead by doctors.
Three crew members injured
Apart from Madhan, three other crew members were also injured in the accident. They have been identified as Dhinakaran, Surya, and Sakthivel. All three were admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai, where they are currently receiving treatment.
Investigation underway
The police have registered a case and initiated a detailed investigation into the matter. They are examining the exact cause of the explosion and whether all required safety measures were followed during the filming process. Authorities are also looking into the possibility of a technical malfunction that may have caused the blast.
The makers of Killer have not yet released any official statement regarding the incident. This unfortunate accident has once again raised concerns about safety standards during the filming of high-risk action sequences. Investigators are expected to submit a detailed report after completing their inquiry.
