The five-day Bhagwan Neminath Digambara Dharmachakra Aradhana Mahotsava commenced on Saturday in Belagavi, drawing devotees and dignitaries to the historic Kamal Basadi located within the Belagavi Fort.
Inauguration and Ministerial Address
Inaugurating the event, minister Satish Jarkiholi highlighted the immense contributions of the Jain community to the nation in agriculture, trade, education, and the Kannada language. He assured that Kamal Basadi would be further developed and promoted as a tourist destination. Jarkiholi noted the historical significance of the Basadi and stated that, upon the request of Jain community leaders, he had allocated funds from the public works department for its development.
"Even though the swamijis of the community in Hassan and Shivamogga districts did not submit a request, we provided grants after they called for discussion. We have not only provided good roads to the monasteries in various places, including Hassan and Shivamogga, but also to the towns leading to the tourist places of the community," Jarkiholi said.
Further Commitments
Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar added that more development initiatives would be undertaken in the coming days, with additional grants to be provided to the Jain community. Dharmasena Muni Maharaj offered blessings during the Dharmachakra Aradhana Mahotsava at the Jain temple.
Cultural and Spiritual Programs
Following the inauguration, the event featured Dharmachakra Aradhana, special puja ceremonies, and cultural programs dedicated to world peace. Several dignitaries were present to mark the occasion.
