Prestigious Award for Tribal Education and Social Upliftment
In a significant recognition of its dedicated service, the Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Trust based in Kokrajhar was honored with the Krishna Chandra Gandhi Award 2025 on Saturday. The award ceremony formed a central part of the Janjatiya Gaurav Divas celebrations held at Science College in Kokrajhar, a grand cultural event orchestrated by the Purvottar Janajati Shiksha Samiti.
Celebrating a Legacy of Social Reform
The Trust was selected for this honour due to its outstanding and sustained contributions to tribal education and social upliftment, a mission deeply inspired by the legacy of the revered Bodo reformer, Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma. The award serves as a testament to the Trust's impactful work in empowering tribal communities across the region.
The accolade includes a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh along with a formal citation, presented to acknowledge and further support the Trust's initiatives. The event successfully drew a large and diverse gathering, with participation from over 500 individuals. The audience was a vibrant mix of educationists, dedicated social workers, and functionaries from Vidya Bharati, who had travelled from various states across the northeast to attend.
A Grand Cultural Ceremony in Kokrajhar
The proceedings were formally presided over by the committee president, Basant Agarwal. The event commenced on a traditional and solemn note with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, a symbol of knowledge and prosperity. This was followed by a soulful vandana (prayer song) performed by young students from Shankardev Shishu Niketan in Kokrajhar, adding a touch of cultural grace to the prestigious occasion.
