In a prestigious honour for Indian sports, Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain who led India to a historic World Cup victory, is set to be immortalized with a life-sized wax statue. The statue will find its home at the renowned Jaipur Wax Museum, located within the iconic Nahargarh Fort.
Measurement Day at the Historic Fort
The first steps towards creating this tribute took place on Sunday when Harmanpreet Kaur personally visited the museum. During her visit, an expert team from the museum meticulously recorded her detailed body measurements to ensure an accurate likeness. They also captured numerous photographs and videos, which will serve as crucial references for the artists crafting the wax figure.
A visibly curious Kaur engaged with the museum team, enquiring about the intricate process of wax figure creation. Her visit to the 300-year-old heritage site was not just official; she also enjoyed exploring the museum, a unique destination that blends history with contemporary wax art.
An Honour and an Inspiration
Expressing her gratitude and excitement, Harmanpreet Kaur stated, "I want to thank the Jaipur Wax Museum team for honouring me with a wax figure. This decision motivates me to take on more responsibilities and continue doing good work for the country. I am extremely curious and excited about seeing myself in wax." She added that once the statue is ready, she plans to visit Jaipur with her family for the unveiling.
The museum's curator and founder, Anoop Srivastava, explained the rationale behind selecting Kaur. "We have always been selecting personalities who are inspiring icons and have put India on the international map with their achievements," he said. "Harmanpreet Kaur’s personality is sure to inspire young girls and make a significant impact." The museum already boasts wax figures of other sporting legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Saina Nehwal, and Sandeep Singh.
Meeting with Rajasthan's Deputy Chief Minister
Later on the same day, the cricket star's schedule included a significant political engagement. Harmanpreet Kaur met Diya Kumari, the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, at the latter's royal residence, the City Palace in Jaipur.
The courtesy meeting, which lasted for about an hour, saw in-depth discussions on cricket and India's recent World Cup triumph. Deputy CM Diya Kumari shared her admiration, saying, "It was great to meet Harmanpreet, who is a youth icon and an inspiration in the true sense. Her leadership skills, confidence and high spirits have created history, which will inspire Indian girls for ages."
This upcoming wax statue solidifies Harmanpreet Kaur's status as a national sporting icon. It places her among an elite group of Indian achievers and serves as a permanent source of inspiration for future generations, particularly young girls aspiring to excel in sports.
