IAS officer Tina Dabi has added another remarkable achievement to her distinguished career by receiving national recognition for her transformative work in water conservation in Rajasthan's Barmer district. The District Collector was honored by President Droupadi Murmu at the prestigious 6th National Water Awards 2025 ceremony held in New Delhi.

Presidential Honor for Water Conservation Excellence

President Droupadi Murmu presented the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari (JSJB) Award to Barmer district for its outstanding performance in rainwater harvesting and community participation initiatives. The award ceremony, organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti at Vigyan Bhawan, celebrated Barmer's success in implementing effective water conservation measures under a nationwide campaign.

The district received a prize money of Rs 2 crore for its top performance in the first category, marking a significant achievement for the arid region of Rajasthan. This recognition highlights the successful implementation of water harvesting techniques in one of India's most water-scarce regions.

Tina Dabi's Illustrious UPSC Journey

Tina Dabi's academic excellence paved the way for her historic achievement in the UPSC Civil Services Examination, where she became the first woman from the reserved category to top the exam at just 22 years of age. Her outstanding performance included 868 marks in the written test and 195 in the personality test, bringing her total score to 1063 marks.

Her subject-wise performance in the Mains examination demonstrates her comprehensive preparation: 145 marks in Essay, 119 in General Studies Paper 1, 84 in GS Paper 2, 111 in GS Paper 3, 110 in GS Paper 4, 128 in Political Science Paper 1, and an exceptional 171 in Political Science Paper 2. With an overall percentage of 52.49%, Dabi's achievement stands as a testament to her dedication and intellectual capabilities.

A Consistent Trailblazer

This recent honor adds to Tina Dabi's growing list of accomplishments. From being named Student of the Year during her graduation days to receiving the President's Gold Medal for being First in Order of Merit at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie, she has consistently demonstrated excellence throughout her career.

Born in Bhopal, Tina moved to Delhi with her parents and younger sister during her school years. She completed her schooling from the Convent of Jesus and Mary, choosing humanities in Class 11 while already setting her sights on the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Her mother, Himali Dabi, is a trained engineer, while her father Jaswant Dabi works in the Department of Telecom.

The water conservation award not only recognizes Tina Dabi's administrative capabilities but also underscores the importance of sustainable water management practices in addressing India's water security challenges, particularly in drought-prone regions like Barmer.
