Aamir Khan is set to produce a new film titled Silkyara 41, which will be directed by Kabir Khan. The movie is based on the dramatic rescue of 41 workers trapped in a tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, in November 2023. This marks the third collaboration between Aamir Khan and Kabir Khan, following the successes of Mumbai Meri Jaan (2005) and PK (2014).
Story of Survival and Unity
The film chronicles the 17-day ordeal when 41 construction workers were trapped after a landslide blocked the Silkyara tunnel. The rescue operation involved multiple agencies, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and international experts. The workers were finally evacuated on November 28, 2023, using a pipe inserted through the debris. Aamir Khan said, "This story is a testament to human resilience and the power of collective effort. I am honored to bring it to the screen."
Production Details and Release
According to sources, pre-production will begin in early 2026, with principal photography expected later that year. The film will be shot in Uttarakhand and Mumbai. Kabir Khan, known for his realistic storytelling in Bajrangi Bhaijaan and 83, will direct. He stated, "The rescue operation involved over 1,000 personnel and cutting-edge technology. We aim to capture the heroism of everyone involved."
Impact and Significance
The Silkyara tunnel rescue was one of the most challenging in Indian history, with workers surviving on limited food and water. The film is expected to highlight the teamwork between government agencies, local authorities, and international experts. Aamir Khan Productions will co-produce with Kabir Khan Films. The release date is tentatively set for late 2026 or early 2027.
