Reena Dutta, the former wife of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, stepped out to vote on Thursday. She participated in the crucial Maharashtra civic elections. Dutta visited a polling booth to exercise her democratic right.

Family Affair at the Polling Booth

Reena Dutta did not go alone. Her actor son Junaid Khan and daughter Ira Khan joined her. The trio cast their votes together. After voting, they happily posed for photographs outside the station. They proudly showed their inked fingers to the cameras.

Junaid Khan's Message to Voters

Junaid Khan spoke to waiting media persons after voting. He emphasized the importance of every citizen voting. "I think voting is very important," Junaid stated clearly. He made a strong appeal for people to come out and vote.

"Everyone should come and vote," the young actor urged. His message was simple and direct, focusing on civic duty.

Other Bollywood Personalities Vote

Kiran Rao, who is also a former wife of Aamir Khan, cast her vote as well. The filmmaker was seen outside a polling booth. She too posed for pictures, displaying her inked finger with a smile.

Actor Akshay Kumar was among the early celebrity voters on Thursday. Several other film industry figures visited polling centers. The list included Twinkle Khanna, Nana Patekar, Vishal Dadlani, and Suniel Shetty.

Scale of the Maharashtra Civic Elections

Polling is currently underway across 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra. These elections follow a lengthy and vigorous campaign period. They hold significant importance for major urban centers.

Key cities involved are Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Nashik, and Pimpri-Chinchwad. The electoral battle features major political players.

Political Alliances and Contests

The Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena are contesting together. They fight under the Mahayuti banner in most locations. Pune is a notable exception to this alliance.

The Nationalist Congress Party is contesting independently in many corporations. In Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, both NCP factions have united. They present a joint manifesto to voters in these areas.

Massive Electoral Exercise

The State Election Commission provided key numbers. Approximately 3.48 crore voters are eligible to participate in these elections. A total of 15,908 candidates are in the fray.

These candidates compete for 2,869 seats across 893 municipal wards. To facilitate smooth voting, authorities established 39,092 polling centers. These centers are spread across the state of Maharashtra.

Polling Schedule and Results

Voting began at 7:30 AM on Thursday, January 15. Polling stations remain open until 5:30 PM on the same day. The counting of votes is scheduled for Friday, January 16. This process will determine the winners in all contested seats.
