Adivi Sesh Unveils His Dual Role Process for Upcoming Film 'Dacoit'
Adivi Sesh, the versatile actor known for his compelling performances, has revealed his distinctive approach to filmmaking that combines both acting and writing. The actor, who will next appear in the highly anticipated romance-revenge drama 'Dacoit', shared detailed insights into how he navigates these dual creative roles during a recent promotional interview with IANS alongside co-star Mrunal Thakur.
The Actor's Filter: Thinking as a Performer First
Sesh explained that he follows a fundamental rule before embarking on any film project. "My only filter for this is, if I get an idea for a movie, and I know it's going to be an ambitious one. If it doesn't sound reasonable for me to do it as an actor, I don't even attempt to write the film," he stated. This practical approach ensures that every story he develops is something he can realistically portray on screen.
He elaborated on his preparation process, emphasizing how he first assesses whether he can embody the character. "And so that filter is what helps me because once I know that it is possible for me to play it as an actor, I do that thinking about it for a couple of days before I start writing," Sesh revealed. This initial phase of contemplation allows him to fully immerse himself in the character's perspective before transitioning to the writer's role.
The Writer's Mindset: Focusing on Emotions and Ideas
Once Sesh confirms he can play the role, he shifts his focus entirely to writing. "And if I'm able, if I know in my heart, I can play the role, the rest of it is just me focusing as a writer," he explained. Interestingly, the 'Major' actor disclosed that while writing, he deliberately avoids visualizing specific actors' faces.
"Because in my head, when I'm imagining a scene, I'm not imagining myself or any other actor for that matter," Sesh shared. He described his creative visualization process as abstract, where "all the actors' faces are kind of grey, like I don't see, I can't see their faces when I'm writing." This technique enables him to concentrate purely on the narrative's emotional core and conceptual framework.
Complete Mindset Switch on Set
The most crucial aspect of Sesh's process is his ability to completely separate his writing and acting responsibilities. Once filming begins, he undergoes a total mental shift. "And then once I'm on set, I'm not thinking about the writing at all," he emphasized. This clear demarcation allows him to fully inhabit his character without the distraction of writerly concerns, ensuring authentic performances.
