Ajay Devgn Says Love Has Lost Its Meaning in Modern Relationships
Ajay Devgn: Modern Love Has Become Too Casual

Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn has sparked a conversation about the changing nature of love and commitment in today's world. During a promotional interview for his upcoming film, the actor expressed his belief that the profound meaning of love has been diluted in contemporary times.

The Problem with Casual Love

While speaking with his 'De De Pyaar De 2' co-star R. Madhavan on BookMyShow's YouTube channel, Devgn reflected on the generational shift in how relationships are perceived. "From where I see, it has become more casual than what it was," the veteran actor stated. He elaborated that the core issue is the overuse of the word itself, arguing that "the word love has been used so unnecessarily that it has lost its meaning."

Devgn contrasted this with the approach of his own generation, where saying "I love you" was a significant milestone reached after a period of deeper understanding. "In our generation, you reached a point where you said 'I love you.' Before that, it was whatever it was — 'like you' or whatever," he explained. "But I think, right now, people don't understand the depth of that word so it has been overused."

Madhavan's Take on Emojis and Unconditional Affection

R. Madhavan was in complete agreement with his co-star's sentiments. He pointed out that even simple digital communication has contributed to making expressions of affection feel routine and less sincere. "Now every message has a heart emoji with it. All messages just end with 'love'," Madhavan remarked.

He went on to nostalgically recall the unique satisfaction of earning someone's love in the past. Madhavan expressed a hope that the younger generation could experience the same level of comfort and depth of feeling. He drew a poignant parallel, saying, "Nowadays, you can compare that to the crazy love you feel for your pets, which is unconditional. I wish you could feel it for another human being."

Ajay Devgn added a thoughtful layer to this comparison, noting, "The problem is that you love your pets because you know that they won't ask for anything in return."

Kajol's Humorous View on Marriage Renewal

This candid discussion about relationships came shortly after Devgn's wife, acclaimed actress Kajol, shared her own witty perspective on matrimony. On her show 'Two Much With Kajol and Twinkle', Kajol humorously suggested that marriages should come with a renewal option. "You should have a renewal option. And if there's an expiry date, then we don't have to suffer for too long," she quipped, offering a modern, lighthearted take on long-term commitment.

All About 'De De Pyaar De 2'

The conversation that sparked this debate was part of the promotional activities for the highly anticipated sequel, 'De De Pyaar De 2'. The film is an upcoming romantic comedy directed by Anshul Sharma, with a screenplay penned by Luv Ranjan and Tarun Jain.

Jointly produced by T-Series Films and Luv Films, the movie serves as a follow-up to the successful 2019 film De De Pyaar De. The sequel features Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Rakul Preet Singh in leading roles and promises to deliver a fresh exploration of love and relationships through Ranjan's signature style, which masterfully blends humour with genuine emotion.

The project was officially announced in March 2024, and the cast and crew began filming in June 2024. Key sequences for the movie have been shot in picturesque locations across Punjab and London. Fans can mark their calendars, as the film is scheduled for a theatrical release on November 14, 2025.
