Vijayabaskar slams AIADMK leadership over expulsions

Pudukkottai: Former AIADMK minister C Vijayabaskar on Monday hit out at the AIADMK leadership for constantly expelling dissenters and “viewing hardworking and loyal cadres as adversaries.” This comes a day after former minister C Ve Shanmugam renewed his attack on AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami for branding cadres who sought discussions on the party’s poll debacle as “traitors.”

Vijayabaskar's Statement on X

“A leadership that views hardworking, loyal cadres as adversaries and a political culture that treats questioning as a crime does not pave the path to victory. History remembers not how many people were expelled, but how many were united and how many battles were won,” he said in a post on X without naming anyone.

Background of the Conflict

Vijayabaskar has largely remained silent and had not made any direct statements since he was removed from a post as AIADMK’s Pudukkottai north district secretary after voting in favour of the TVK government during the confidence motion along with 24 other AIADMK MLAs. Senior leaders, including S P Velumani, who were part of the rebel faction, had reconciled with EPS.
