Alia Bhatt Addresses BAFTA Interview Controversy, Questions Viral Backlash
After days of intense social media discussion and widespread online criticism, Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt has finally responded to the backlash that followed her appearance at the prestigious 79th British Academy Film Awards. The celebrated actress, known for her powerful performance in Gangubai Kathiawadi, had the honor of presenting the Best Film Not in the English Language award at the ceremony, marking a significant moment in her international career.
The Viral Moment That Sparked Debate
While Alia's presence on the global stage was widely celebrated, it was a brief post-event interview clip that unexpectedly triggered heated debate across social media platforms. In the now-viral video segment, when asked to name a film with the biggest plot twist, Alia appeared momentarily surprised before responding with Gone Girl.
The actress's brief hesitation and thoughtful pause became the focal point of intense online speculation. Numerous social media users questioned whether she had actually watched the film, while others labeled her response as awkward or overly hesitant. The clip quickly became a major talking point, dividing fans and critics over whether her reaction represented genuine surprise or pressure in the moment.
Alia's Candid Response to the Controversy
Addressing the unexpected uproar in a conversation with prominent fashion commentator Diet Sabya, Alia Bhatt directly questioned the scale of the reaction. "Why is it being talked about so much? Is it because of my expression?" she asked, expressing genuine bewilderment at the viral nature of the moment.
The actress offered a detailed explanation of what was going through her mind during the interview interaction. "So basically I really think it is the best twist but I have not liked watched it in... when did it release? 10 years ago? So I have not watched it after that," she clarified. "So when she was like, 'that monologue,' I was like 'haan' (yes) and I was going back in my head that oh ya, 'that monologue, correct correct correct' and she was mentioned cleaning the floor and I was like like 'haan' (yes) so I was like going back in time and I guess that's what you saw."
In her characteristically candid style, Alia added a personal reflection about her public persona. "I am a cool girl. I am a sweet girl. But I could be... total... I mean I can be like... I am more sweet than I am cool. Actually, I don't think I am cool. I am uncool girl, my sister would say that."
Her honest clarification has since added a new dimension to the ongoing conversation, with many fans rallying in support of the actress and appreciating her transparency about the moment.
