Amaal Mallik Opens Up About Physical Struggles and Resilience in Candid Podcast Interview

Reality television star and acclaimed singer Amaal Mallik, who captured numerous hearts during his stint on the popular show Bigg Boss 19, recently participated in an intimate conversation on a podcast hosted by Pinkvilla. During this revealing session, Mallik delved deep into his personal journey, discussing the significant physical injuries he has endured, his profound bond with his father, and various other aspects of his life and career.

Revealing a History of Severe Injuries and Medical Procedures

The talented artist shared shocking details about his physical condition, disclosing that he has accumulated 45 stitches on his face over the years. He clarified that these were not from cosmetic surgeries but from various incidents. “I’ve not gotten surgery done, but I have 45 stitches here,” Mallik stated, pointing to his face. He further elaborated on other serious injuries, including a right dislocated shoulder, a fractured left hand, and a broken nose. Despite these challenges, he maintains a resilient attitude, comparing himself to the Terminator for his ability to persevere. “But I’m like the Terminator, I get up every time... Aaj kaam karenge,” he expressed with determination.

Financial Hurdles and the High Cost of Necessary Surgeries

Amaal Mallik highlighted the financial difficulties he faced in addressing his health issues. He revealed that to undergo a critical maxillofacial surgery for his face, he had to take a substantial loan of Rs 5 lakh. “To do my face surgery, I had to take a loan of Rs 5 lakh just to do a maxillofacial surgery,” he explained. He described how his right-side skull was broken, emphasizing the severity of the injury. Mallik also mentioned that during his 12th standard exams, his entire face was broken, yet he continued to write his papers for three to four hours, keeping his eyes open with the help of a device. “So I have faced a lot of physical struggles, emotional struggles. That’s where all the music also comes from,” he reflected, connecting his hardships to his artistic expression.

Ongoing Physical Challenges and the Need for Self-Care

The singer discussed his ongoing physical ailments, noting that he requires knee braces to perform at shows, as his knee has a tendency to rotate and come out of place. He recounted an incident during a finale performance where his knee dislocated while he was turning to sit on a chair. “When I turned in, my knee came out and it was hanging,” he shared, underscoring the urgent need for medical attention. Mallik admitted that he has postponed necessary treatments due to a lack of funds in the past and now a shortage of time. “Tab paise nahi the, ab time nahi hai,” he lamented, highlighting the persistent obstacles in his path to recovery.

Despite the numerous setbacks, Amaal Mallik remains grateful for his experiences and is now prioritizing his health. He acknowledged that he has been in a “war since the age of 5” and stressed the importance of taking rest and self-care. “Abhi mujhe problem pata hai. Khud ko time dena hai, khud ke health ka dhyan dena hai,” he asserted. Mallik expressed optimism about his music career, noting that it continues to flow beautifully, but warned that neglecting his health could lead to burnout. “If I do not take care of myself, then phir I will get spent, which I have already—35 years mein got spent,” he concluded, advocating for a balanced approach to life and work.
